Black Student Union Visits UCLA

The Black Student Union interest group and African American studies class went on a field trip to UCLA. In this field trip, students participated in three events:

1. Panel talk on the Transition to UCLA from an Alliance school with words of encouragement and helpful hints
2. College lecture and digital Art Exhibit from Professor Paul Vonblum on African American Arts in Los Angeles.
3. College Tour by NPHC (Black Greek) UCLA students
4. Panel Discussion on the Black/Minority experience at a PWI (Predominantly White Institution)

The field trip was such a success that we were invited back to UCLA to participate in another lecture from the professor and another invitation from the Executive Director of the California African American Museum. Mrs. Richardson-Young and I (Dr. Thompson) were extremely proud of our students and how they networked with adults and asked questions which raised the eyebrows of the adults in the lecture.
